Universidad San Jorge

The Universidad San Jorge participates inthe evaluation of the ecotoxicity of the chemical substances studied within theframework of RADAR project, utilizing various aquatic environmental biomodelsand obtaining experimental data that will also be assessed using RNA-seqtechniques in order to expand the scope and facilitate the extrapolation and/orprediction of toxic behaviour in other organisms. Our research focus is centredon addressing the issue of chemical toxicity through the lens of Green Chemistry, with the firm belief that achieving the green paradigm is possible. Thisproject offers us the opportunity to make significant progress in thisdirection, thanks to the involvement of partners who cover the entireproduction chain with a circular approach, from the design of new moleculesthat will replace the current, more toxic and unsustainable ones, to theirmarket introduction and even the eventual elimination and degradation of thesubstances being studied, all while maintaining applicability. Suchopportunities are rare, as they bring together all stakeholders to workcollaboratively towards this noble and necessary goal, within the SSbDframework.

Moreover, this project tackles toxicity from allangles, including the evaluation of both ecotoxicity and human toxicity. Itemploys a comprehensive battery of organisms, tissues, and cells, facilitatinga deeper understanding of toxicity mechanisms, making this project remarkablycomprehensive and impactful.
